
Amy's Yoga Studies
Amy has already completed her KHYF Yoga Teacher Certification and her KHYF certification to become a Teacher-Trainer who helps others to become yoga teachers. Amy also takes private Vedic Chanting lessons with Deborah Kuryan.
Amy is currently in a 4-year long Yoga Therapy Certificaiton Program with the KHYF. As part of her studies she has been traveling to study with her teacher 6-8 weeks per year. These studies are done in the United States, Canada, Europe and India. Below is an outline of the topics she is currently working on.
The Yoga of Healing - I How Yoga views healing. Unique features of Yoga as a Holistic and Complimentary Healing modality. Concepts of yoga as preventive, maintenance and a curative process. Some additional models from auxiliary traditions like Ayurveda that aides in understanding holistic healing.

The Yoga of Healing -II The Four step model in greater detail. How does symptoms express? How to observe these symptoms. Role of Nadi Pariksa (Pulse reading). The causes illness. The dynamics of causes and effects. Choosing the appropriate goal and hence the right healing modality.

Healing modalities & their implementation
Saririka Cikitsa (healing using the body), Prana Cikitsa (healing using the breath), Manasika Cikitsa (healing using the mind), Indiriya Cikitsa (healing using the senses), Adhyatmika Cikitsa (healing using the core/heart), Roles of Ahara (food)/Vihara(life style)/Sanga (support group) in healing.

Sequencing a healing practice How to Structure a healing practice. Preparation, Main Goal and Completion. Concept of evolution of practice. Concepts of integrating multiple tools in same practice. Steps on integrating tools from the gross to the subtle.

The Yoga of Healing - III Yoga sutras on Healing. The mind-centered approach according to Yoga Sutra. The Yoga Psychology : The concepts and role of sva-bhava (seed potentials), vasanas (resident subconscious or unconscious potentials), samskaras (habitual patterns - conscious or subconscious).

Lessons from Modern Healing Modalities.
Anatomy and Physiology of our human system. Pathology of major illnesses. Introduction to Psychology. Introduction to Counseling/ Pscyho Dynamics.

Developing an Individualized Healing Program. How to set up an individual teaching practice. Steps involved in developing a healing program. Teacher-Student ethics. Developing and maintaining records on students. Functioning with complimentary systems etc.
50 Hours
Specialized Studies on common illnesses. Discussion on whether standardization is possible. General guidelines to deal with specific common illness/special situations : Back Pain, Heart Conditions, Stress, Epilepsy, Women’s Issues, Special Needs etc.
100 Hours
Internship Practice Observation and supervised teaching sessions at KYM
2, 1 month long internships in India
Self Study & Project Preparation
Special projects (around 4-5) will be given to each applicant during the course of the four-year program, which they need to work on and make presentations.

Elective Courses Additional elective courses which will be recommended from time to time, that will supplement the main teaching curriculum : Introduction to Ayurveda, First Aid, Food and Nutrition etc.
